ALYSSA BOXHILL

CONCERTMASTER

Alyssa Boxhill has been a member of the Frederick Symphony Orchestra since 2004 and was appointed Concertmaster in 2015. Ms. Boxhill began her musical studies at the Manhattan School of Music’s Preparatory Division in New York City at age four and continued at MSM under the instruction of Patinka Kopec through college graduation. In 2001, she received a bachelor’s in English Literature from Barnard College.

As a student, Ms. Boxhill attended the Kinhaven Music School, the Quartet Program under the leadership of Charles Castleman, and the Perlman Music Program under the instruction of Itzhak Perlman. She has performed as a soloist with the Frederick Symphony Orchestra, the New Orchestra of Westchester, the Yonkers Philharmonic, and the Columbia University orchestra, and as a chamber musician at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall. Outside of the Frederick Symphony Orchestra, Ms. Boxhill is a regular participant of the Kinhaven Adult Chamber Music Workshop in Weston, Vermont and performs as a freelance chamber and orchestra musician throughout the D.C. metropolitan area.

When not making music, Ms. Boxhill is a full-time graphic designer in Frederick, avid cyclist, and certified cycling safety instructor. She lives downtown with two bicycles and a three-legged cat named Eleven.
